One of the great advantages of homemade bread versus commercial bread is that you get to choose what goes into your dough!I woke up vibing and feeling rich from having rested well the whole of Saturday that I woke up this Mother’s Day Sunday with a hunger to try something new.
Yes, I’m constantly searching for new flavour experience with baked goods.
So my new thing was to bake with Smirnoff Ice especially the one infused with lemon. And because I’m not baking with sugar, using Smirnoff Ice is a “wuru-wuru” way of adding some sweetening to my dough, plus I added a bit of honey to the mixture as well. While Smirnoff is known for its vodka, what I used in this recipe is Smirnoff Ice. It’s a laced with malt liquour which means it’s fermented (like beer) nut not distilled (like vodka). If you are looking to add it to a gluten-free recipe, pls dont! it is made from malt which is extracted from barley which contains gluten.
This bread contains absolutely no water; instead of liquid milk, by adding the Smirnoff Ice drink into dry powdered milk, you make up for it. The whole idea behind this bread was to infuse the Smirnoff ice flavour into the bread and don’t worry about your kids getting tipsy from eating the bread, the little alcohol present on the drink, will evaporate in the course of baking and will leave a delicious flavour behind.
While this is still a twist from Hunter’s dinner roll recipe, all these modifications have certainly created a great departure from his! Lol

And I did have some leftover dough which my daughter baked as “rolled oats drizzled with honey”. We simply added soaked a handful of rolled oats and added it both inside the dough and on top of it, then with a drizzle of honey across it, we baked till it’s golden brown (we like our breads brown!)
We served this with a delicious side of tatashe salsa spiced with Argentina brand of corned beef which I am going to attempt very soon and some crayfish for a deep african flavour. It was absolutely delicious!
